The IOP are fantastic for teachers!

I just wanted to take a moment to tell you that the Institute of Physics is a brilliant organisation.  No, this isn’t an opinion.  It’s a fact.  Having been a beneficiary of their professional support networks for a couple of years now, I don’t know that I’d have made it this far as a teacher without them.

If you are a physics teacher, make sure you avail yourself of the excellent resources here for teaching A-Level and equivalent  – Teaching Advanced Physics.  But also, and especially if you are not a physics specialist, make sure you visit the superb Practical Physics site.  The ideas within should certainly make sure your lessons aren’t boring!

We teach a practical subject geared towards thinking skills and problem solving, and should always remember that when the inadequate and uninspiring curriculum is holding us down.  Some time spent on an IOP website or, better, reading an IOP journal or visiting an IOP conference, will certainly help you get your mojo back!
